Report finds OMB did not pressure Pentagon on competitive sourcingBy Robert BrodskyThe Army was under “extreme pressure” to conduct public-private job competitions in 2008, but not from the Office of Management and Budget, according to a report released on Monday by the Defense Department inspector general.Officials with the Army, Navy and Air Force told investigators that “they were not directed by and did not feel pressure from OMB” to hold job competitions, the report stated.But top Army officials told the IG that they had difficulties implementing the competitive sourcing program, which has since been renamed commercial services management, and that the Office of the Secretary of Defense rejected requests for relief.Full story: [1] http://www.govexec.com/story_page.cfm?articleid=41735&dcn=e_ndw
