Welcome

JWV National Commander Welcomes GWOT Veterans to our GWOT Web site and the JWV!

As the National Commander of the JWV, I want to welcome the warriors of the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) generation to our ranks. The JWV, founded by Civil War veterans in 1896, has welcomed all succeeding generations of Jewish veterans and has been continuously strengthened by their joining with us as we continue to fight for the rights of all veterans. We welcome you as the next in the long line of Jewish veterans stretching back to the first Jewish families to come to New Amsterdam in 1654.The JWV knows that, in addition to the challenges faced by the brethren who preceded you, your generation faces new and daunting problems as you return from fighting a new kind of war. We know that many of you face recovery from devastating physical wounds unheard of in past wars, and that many of you face the hidden demons of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury. The JWV want to help you and all of the veterans of today’s conflicts. Please use this forum to let us know how our resources in Washington and throughout the country can meet your needs. Join your local posts and let our members throughout the nation know of your needs. Become active in our ranks. We want to help you in any way we can, and we look forward to your becoming the next generation to lead the JWV. As the veterans of preceding conflicts carried the JWV from the post-Civil war era to the beginnings of the 21st century, we hope that you will join with us as the JWV continues its mission to serve the veteran in all possible ways and to let the world know that Jews have fought for this country from its beginnings and will continue to do so.

Yours in comradeship,
Larry Schulman
National Commander

Welcome GWOT Veteran!

National Museum of American Jewish Military History

As the President of the National Museum of American Jewish Military History, it is my honor to welcome you, today’s veterans, to the JWV Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) web site and the ranks of the JWV and the Museum. The National Museum of American Jewish Military History, under the auspices of the Jewish War Veterans of the USA, documents and preserves the contributions of Jewish Americans to the peace and freedom of the United States, educates the public concerning the courage, heroism and sacrifices made by Jewish Americans who served in the armed forces, and works to combat anti-Semitism. At the museum, we tell the story of the unbroken line of Jewish service to the American military, and we welcome and honor you as the next link in the chain. We are privileged to have you join with us, and we, in turn, want to help you in any way possible. Feel free to use this web site as an interactive forum. You enrich us by your presence, and we hope that you will help us in turn to add the story of your generation to the stories of those who came before. As you become the latest generation to join in this chain that goes back to generations before the founding of the JWV, you honor us with your service. Become active in your local areas, and be sure to visit our Museum whenever you are in DC. By becoming a member of the Museum, you help to ensure that future generations will know the full extent of Jewish-American military service.Visit our Museum web site, [5] www.nmajmh.org, and know that your generation will be the next to be honored as we endeavor to highlight the service of generation upon generation of Jewish American veterans. You are the latest in a long and proud line of service, and we welcome and salute you.

The Jewish War Veteran’s (JWV) is dedicated to supporting our military and their families. We support all military no matter what their religion, race, or nationality. The JWV National Commander has tasked me to develop this website to improve to communications and to better reach out to the current active duty military, National Guard and Reserve component members. Our JWV members are always searching for way to help the U.S. military members in harmsway and at home. We have recently expanded our “Support Our Service (SOS) members program by putting in place a permanent organization of JWV veterans who will send to overseas troops care packages of food, books, and other necessary items. These packages are to be used to support you in celebrating the Jewish holidays. We send toys and packages to family members during the holiday seasons. Please send me your e-mail and USPO mail address if you would like to receive a care package or have one sent to your family. We want to help you! As active members of the JWV – a 100,000 person organization with current members that have participated in every war since World War II we have the motivation and ability to assist you and your family. The Jewish War Veterans has Post across the United States. When you come back from fighting the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) we will be there to greet you.
